For the last 10+ years, I’ve followed a “3 Words” process I learned from Chris Brogan (here’s a YouTube video describing the process in full).
Essentially, pick 3 words as a focus/theme/inspiration for the year.
Not a phrase. 3 separate words. Here are mine for 2025:
- Coalminer. While I love to teach and share, there are things I don’t love (talking about you videos!) doing in my business. The word “Coalminer” puts everything in perspective for me. I’m fortunate to be celebrating 22 years working from home in a business that’s been profitable every single year and has allowed me to take care of my family. All by design.
- Pantry. There’s so much wrapped up in this word for me. Use what I have (skills, team, assets, systems, etc.). Prepare for the future (new skills, new assets, leveraged offerings, smart systems, profits, etc.). Applies to life overall.
- Little. For years I’ve said “Ordinary things, done consistently, create extraordinary and consistent results.” The word “Little” is a reminder to focus on the little things which, when compounded, result in some pretty great things. From everything having a home (in office and home) to minimizing decision fatigue to practicing Extreme Client Care™ daily and beyond.
How about you? Do you follow this, or a similar, process?
