The Power of One. . .

It’s a funny thing about voting — everyone assumes someone else is doing it and so their single vote “doesn’t make a difference”.  This is far from the truth.

Whether we’re talking about political elections, local town/city meetings, or grant application submissions, every vote counts.

As you may be aware, I’m applying for the Mission Small Business $250,000 business grant and one of the application requirements is that we obtain 250 votes.

This seemed like such a “no brainer”.
After all, I have almost 4,000 people on my list with an above-average open rate and thousands of friends on social media.  250 votes which require someone to:

  1. visit www.MissionSmallBusiness.com,
  2. click on the lower right to verify who they are through their Facebook account,
  3. enter “SandraMartini.com” or “Lakeville, MA” and
  4. click “VOTE” next to my name

Easy, right?

So what’s the problem?
Why haven’t I reached 250 in the last week despite amazing and humbling requests and declarations from friends, clients and colleagues?

The answer, I believe, is that everyone assumes someone else will do it and that their “single vote” doesn’t matter and, as a result, no one does it.  (Kind of like the old joke about “Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody”.)

We currently have 78 votes and less than 4 days to get the rest
(that’s 172 people just like you).

If you are one of the 78 who has voted for me, THANK YOU!  I greatly appreciate your vote!

If you believe in what I do, if you enjoy my articles, #SmarTini tips and classes or if you don’t yet know me and believe in the power of small business, my request is that you please vote for me (see above for steps) and do it now before you’re onto your next email, client or task.

You can (and in my opinion may wish to) vote for more than one business.  You just can’t vote for the same business more than once.

And if you’d like to know more about what I’d do with the grant, please watch the just-under-2-minute video below:

Thank you! And, please, remember this message when it comes time to vote for other things in your life and community. 🙂
